FORMER Wakefield Trinity Wildcat Ben Westwood has been shortlisted for the 2012 Stobart Super League Man of Steel award.

Westwood, who spent three years in the red, white and blue between 1999 and 2002, is part of a three-man shortlist alongside St Helens hooker James Roby and Wigan Warriors full-back Sam Tomkins for the prestigious award.

The former Normanton Knights second row was nominated for the accolade by his peers and will find out if he’s won at the league’s end-of-season dinner in Manchester on Monday, October 1.

The Coach of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards will also be presented on the night, with Wildcats head coach Richard Agar among the names linked with the coach’s award.
