WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats have signed Barrow Raiders prop Matt James on a two-year deal.

Wakefield-born James, 24, played at Bradford Bulls before the Welsh international’s brief spell at Harlequins ended last year having played just three Super League games for the Londoners.

There has been more good news for the Wildcats with half-back Tim Smith, signed on a one-year deal earlier this month, set to hook-up with the Wildcats in training within a couple of weeks after the 26-year-old’s visa application was rubber-stamped.

Wildcats boss Richard Agar is also closing-in on signing Cronulla Sharks and Papua New Guinea hooker Paul Aiton.
