WAKEFIELD Wildcats forward Frankie Mariano is expected to be available for Friday’s trip to Hull FC following fears over an arm injury suffered in the defeat to Warrington Wolves.

Mariano was taken to hospital following the 22-6 defeat against Tony Smith’s men last Friday for an x-ray on the injury.

But scans have allayed fears over a possible set-back for the former Hull KR man and Mariano could be in John Kear’s squad for the trip to the KC Stadium.

A club spokesperson said: “Frankie’s injury is a lot better than had first seemed. It is not broken just soft tissue damage. He should be available for selection on Friday.”

The 22-year-old missed out in the season opener against Castleford Tigers in Cardiff but has started in all four Super League matches since.
