WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats has launched a new membership club for former first team players ahead of Super League XVII.
The ‘Past Players’ Association’ has been created to give former players the chance to meet up on matchdays and help the Rapid Solicitors Stadium club retain links to its rich rugby league history.
Chaired by former Trinity winger Jon Wray and full-back Gary Spencer, the Past Players’ Association will allow previous Trinity greats to retain close ties with the club.
The Touchline Bar, at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, has been set aside as a meeting point for members to socialise on matchday and past player events are also in the pipeline.
Wildcats general manager Davide Longo said: “The club has had some great moments throughout the years thanks to the players that have pulled on the red, white and blue and it’s only right that we acknowledge the part that they have played in making the club such a famous name in the sport,” said Longo.
“As we prepare to embark on an exciting new era it’s important that we keep strong links to the people that have made Wakefield Trinity what it is today and the Association will allow us to do that.”
Membership is £30 per year and allows members entry to Wildcats home matches plus the chance to apply for one further guest ticket per match.
Those eligible must be a retired former player who was contracted to the club on professional terms.
Any past players interested in joining should contact the club on 01924 211611 or e-mail their details to email@example.com.
Alternatively, call Jon Wray on 07930 951 890 or Gary Spencer on 07714 220 086 for more information.
