FANS of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Leeds Rhinos are being warned that road closures in Wakefield city centre could affect their plans to travel to the Super League XVI game between the teams on Sunday.

There will be one lane inbound at Kirkgate travelling underneath the Double Two bridge and any traffic travelling outbound from Wakefield city centre will be directed along Ings Road and behind Halfords. Thornes Lane, at the side of The Hepworth will also be fully closed.

These works will result in an increase in traffic travelling in both directions along Ings Road.

It is also expected that Marsh Way will be reduced to two lanes on Sunday and this may also have an impact on the amount of traffic using Ings Road.

Clear signs will outline diversion routes but fans travelling to and from the game should try to avoid driving through the main area of the city centre.

Alternative routes from the M62 and via the Normanton bypass or from junction 39 of the M1 via Barnsley Road and through Agbrigg should be considered.
