WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats head coach John Kear is still pursuing a new signing at the club but admits that “a bit of urgency has gone from the situation.”

Intense speculation has surrounded the club regarding the new arrival and the Wildcats boss has remained tight-lipped on the player’s identity while “waiting with baited breath” for the signing to complete.

However, Kear said: “I think a bit of urgency has gone from the situation. We have got some players playing really well in that position but it may well still happen

“Obviously, all coaches like to have as many players as possible to pick from.”

The completion of Jarrad Hickey’s move to Wakefield is moving closer and Kear is “pretty confident it will happen within the next fortnight” but his chances of arriving in time for the Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round clash with Castleford Tigers on May 21 are “slim” according to Kear.
