WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats head coach John Kear is hoping to pile more misery on Leeds Rhinos when he takes his team to Headingley Stadium in Super League round 26 tomorrow, Friday.

The Rhinos will be smarting following their 28-18 defeat to Wigan Warriors in the Carnegie Challenge Cup final last Saturday and while Kear is looking for a big performance from his young team, he acknowledges that Leeds will be desperate to get back to winning ways.

Kear said: “It has been a tough week physically and emotionally for them and hopefully we can come out full of energy and put them under pressure.”

However, Kear thinks that the heartbreak of a final defeat will make the Rhinos harder to beat, saying: “I would have preferred Leeds to have won to tell you the truth. If they had won I think they would have come in perhaps a bit soft psychologically but they will have taken confidence out of a very good performance and will re-focus on finishing the season well.”

Teenage centre Lucas Walshaw was drafted into the Wildcats squad today, Thursday, after Josh Griffin failed a late fitness test due to a knee injury.
