WAKEFIELD Wildcats are close to agreeing a deal to bring a new player to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
Head coach John Kear has revealed the club is in talks with a player, believed to be overseas, to bolster their squad.
Australian prop Jarrad Hickey is the latest new arrival at the club and made his debut in Friday’s game at Salford City Reds.
But Wakefield aren’t stopping their to improve their squad and hope to have another new face at the club sooner rather than later.
“We’re very near to agreeing [a deal] with someone,” said Kear.
“Everyone kept saying Semi Tadulala but it might be that we’ve pulled one out of the woods.
“I think he’s a pretty good player and it’d be quite exciting, but nothing’s done and nothing’s dusted and until it’s done and dusted we’ll keep our traps shut because we don’t want to be left with egg on our face.”
Kear has revealed that Wakefield held talks with former winger Tadulala in light of him being released from Leeds Carnegie, saying: “We were speaking to him. Obviously he’s been released by Leeds Carnegie but we’ve agreed nothing at the minute and we may well have turned our attentions elsewhere now.”
