FRANKIE Mariano has been rewarded for his recent good form by signing a 12-month contract extension with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The back-rower, who arrived in the Merrie City from Hull KR at the start of last season, will now remain at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium until the end of 2013.
“It’s great that I’ve got a new contract and hopefully I can start next year how I have finished this year,” he said.
“I have finally found my feet now and it was injuries and performances that kept me out but now I’m being consistent and that’s how I want to start next year.
“I think there will be a good year on the cards but we aren’t thinking about next year ,I’m just concentrating on this weekend. There is a good vibe around the camp at the moment so we are just looking forward to this week.”
Mariano has played an important role in Wakefield’s rise into the Super League play-offs, breaking into Richard Agar’s team and playing in Wildcats’ last five matches.
He follows Paul Aiton, Tim Smith, Ali Lauitiiti and Ben Cockayne in agreeing new deals at the club beyond this season.
