WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats celebrated victories over Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR in the second round of the Rugby League 9s played in Hull last night, Tuesday.

Trinity kicked off the action at Brantingham Park with a disappointing defeat to Hull FC but vanquished Hull KR before winning 20-11 against a Leeds team that featured Chris Clarkson, Ali Lautiti and former Wildcat Jay Pitts.

The Wildcats have done the double over the Rhinos in the tournament and will be hoping to claim more victories to secure their place in the finals night in Leeds on July 5.

Wakefield’s two French signings Samy Masselot and Stan Robin impressed while reserve players Russ Spiers and Lucas Walshaw showed a great deal of potential.

The Wildcats will be playing in the third round of the competition next Tuesday, June 21, at The Shay against Halifax RLFC, Bradford Bulls and Hull FC.

The team travel to The Shay with four wins from six and eight points.
