WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats fans are being sought to help decide the subject of the rugby league statue that will be unveiled outside Wembley Stadium.

The RFL last year agreed terms with Wembley to build a statue and celebrate rugby league’s historic association with the world-famous stadium.

Some supporters’ favourites have already been identified but a dedicated fans’ panel is now being set-up to determine who should be represented on the plinth.

The panel will be one of a number created to represent all strands of the game, from past and present players and coaches to administrators and the media.

Fans are being asked to submit an application to be on the panel in 100 words or less, describing why they feel they are qualified to sit on the panel.

Candidates should be aged 18 or over, have a strong interest or knowledge of rugby league and be able to attend a daytime meeting in Manchester on Monday, April 23.

All applications should be sent to competitions@rfl.uk.com by Monday, April 16. Applicants should include their name, home address, age, e-mail address and daytime telephone number.

Entries can also be submitted by mail to Wembley Statue Voting Panel, c/o Communications Department, RFL, Red Hall, Red Hall Lane, Leeds, LS17 8NB.
