HOT on the heels of Sam Obst’s move to Hull FC, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats forward Dale Ferguson has signed for Huddersfield Giants.

The 22 year-old has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at the Galpharm Stadium as the Wildcats await final clearance of its takeover by Spirit of 1873 Ltd.

The club entered administration on Friday and, following Ferguson’s departure, the new owners in waiting issued a statement that said: “Spirit of 1873 Ltd notes that O’Hara’s, the administrators of Wakefield Trinity Rugby League Football Club Limited, have this morning sold Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ Dale Ferguson to Huddersfield Giants.

“The company wants all our loyal fans to understand that this transaction has taken place before we have been able to sign-off on our ownership of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and that the company is not a party to Dale’s sale.”

Giants have also been linked with a move for Wildcats’ promising centre Aaron Murphy.
