WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats centre Frankie Mariano believes that his team can get a positive result at Hull KR tomorrow, Sunday, if they can get into a winning state of mind.

On the back of two poor displays against Harlequins and Hull FC, Wildcats travel to Craven Park desperate for a return to form in Super League.

And former Rover Mariano recognises that Wakefield need a morale-boosting result. He said: “We all know we have been off peak but we need to get back on form.

“It’s not just about winning. Winning comes when you perform so we need to get out there and perform.”

And the drop-off in Wakefield’s form is more psychological than physical according to Mariano, who said: “It’s not technical. Nothing has changed in our skill or fitness training. It’s just in our heads and a psychological thing.

“We have a very young team. That’s not an excuse but we have sat down and regrouped really well. We have got to concentrate on what we are doing and not what other teams are doing.”

Hull KR have had a disappointing season and Mariano believes that Wakefield can take advantage of Rovers’ inconsistency. “Craven Park is a fortress but they have not started well and I think they are vulnerable,” he said.

“They will also want to get a performance so it should be a good battle.”
