Bradford Bulls 40 Wakefield Wildcats 16

WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats brought their pre-season fixture programme to an end with a 40-16 loss at Odsal.

The hosts got off to a flying start with scores from Heath L’Estrange and Brett Kearney, converted by Marc Herbert and Patrick Ah Van, giving the Bulls a 12-0 lead within the opening 22 minutes.

The Wildcats opened their account before the break when Luke George latched onto Kieran Hyde’s kick to make it 12-4 but the Bulls charged out of the blocks at the start of the second half.

Oliver Elima’s try and a brace of tries from Ah Van, who added to his personal tally with three conversions, extended the hosts lead to 26 points.

Paul Johnson’s try and Josh Veivers’ extras briefly stopped the rot for Wakefield but Michael Briggs crashed over before Paul Sykes’s try, improved by Kyle Briggs, made it 46-10 to Bradford.

Wildcats ended the game with a flourish when George intercepted to touch-down and Veivers’ conversion completed the scoring.
