WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats hooker Matthew Wildie has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension.

The 20 year-old former junior international has progressed through the club’s ranks to become a promising member of the first team under head coach John Kear.

Wildie said: “I’m really happy to have signed another contract here, ever since I was a child all I have wanted to do is play for Wakefield and it’s fantastic that I’m finally living that dream.

“I’m looking forward to a great few years here and I hope I cement myself as first team regular. I’d like to thank everyone at the club for giving me this opportunity.”

Wildcats chief executive James Elston said: “It’s fantastic to have Matty on board, he epitomises everything we want to do with the future of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and that is to sign and keep local home grown talent.

“Matty has truly earned this extension and we look forward to seeing him become an established first team player.”
