Sharlston Rovers face Wigan St Cuthberts in Carnegie Challenge Cup second round

SHARLSTON Rovers will host Wigan St Cuthberts in the second round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

The Weeland Road club are the only remaining amateur Wakefield-based side in the world-famous competition after Eastmoor Dragons, Normanton Knights and Stanley Rangers all bowed out in the first round at the weekend.

Dragons fell to defeat against Rovers’ second round opponents, while Knights fell to defeat at Kells and Huddersfield Underbanks Rangers saw off Rangers.

The draw for the second round took place today and Pennine League Rovers will have home advantage against their Lancashire opponents in what promises to be a thrilling game.

The matches will be played on the weekend of March 10 and 11.

The full second draw is: East Hull v RAF, Siddal v West Hull, Hull Dockers v Kells, Oulton Raiders v British Army, Royal Navy v Leigh Miners Rangers, Hunslet Warriors v Wigan St Patricks, Huddersfield Underbank Rangers v Wath Brow Hornets, Thatto Heath v Millom, York Acorn v Skirlaugh, Hunslet Old Boys v Blackbrook, Saddleworth Raiders v Myton Warriors, Egremont Rangers v Ince Rose Bridge, Leigh East v Bradford Dudley Hill, Sharlston Rovers v Wigan St Cuthberts.
