SHARLSTON Rovers will bring a superb 2012 to a close with a festive fixture against Featherstone Rovers on Boxing Day.
Sharlston, who won the BARLA National Cup in May, will travel to the Big Fellas Stadium, Post Office Road, to take on a Rovers select side.
Kicking-off at 11am, Co-operative Championship Featherstone will field a young team with a sprinkling of first team players, including former Sharlston man Danny Grimshaw and fellow new arrival James Lockwood.
Nevertheless, Sharlston head coach Gordie Long is eager to see how his men match up to Daryl Powell’s troops.
“When I told the lads about the game the effect was immediate,” he said.
“Everyone was really up for it. In our squad we have Rovers fans, ex-Rovers players, players who have taken part in finals at the Big Fellas Stadium and know what it’s like, with the added buzz of playing against Featherstone.
“We’ll be taking a big squad. We want as many people as possible to enjoy the experience.”
Sharlston are encouraging fans to go and support them.
The bar will be open and refreshments will be available.
