OSSETT Town left it late to snatch a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw against derby foes Ossett Albion in an entertaining Boxing Day clash at the Warehouse Systems Stadium.

Town hit the front after just eight minutes through Rob Tonks before the in-form hosts hit back through Dale Kelly in the 34th minute.

The game turned scrappy in the second half but Albion looked to have bagged all three Evo-Stik Division 1 North points with two minutes to go when Darol Lucas found the back of the net.

Celebrations were cut short, however, when Town refused to throw in the towel and rescued a deserved point through Darrell Young in the 90th minute.

Albion face a long trip to Durham City on Monday to kick-off 2012, while Town face another local derby with a home game against Wakefield FC (both kick-off at 3pm).

Paul Lines will be looking for his first win since taking charge as Bears boss but he’ll be able to take plenty of positives despite a 1-0 home loss against Farsley FC on Boxing Day.

Wakefield, boosted by a host of new signings, more than matched their promotion-chasing visitors, who included former Bears Steve Nicholson and Wes Milnes in their side, for long spells.

But a Danny Trueman own goal proved the difference on the day to leave Wakefield lingering precariously over the relegation spots.
