WAKEFIELD College’s production line of talented rugby league players continued to pay dividends recently when one student signed a professional deal with York City Knights.
First-year student Harry Carter, who is part of the college’s Rugby League Development Centre, joined the Co-operative Championship club’s academy and made his senior debut last month.
His superb performances for the Knights’ under-18s squad, which saw him collect the player-of-the-season award, impressed York enough for them to give him a two-year contract.
College head coach Mick Bamford said: “Harry has worked extremely hard while training and playing for the college team over the last season. He has a great work ethic and desire for self-improvement.”
Carter has been selected for Yorkshire and was part of the England College side that won their recent Test against Scotland 2-0.
