WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats are to forge a partnership with Championship new boys Doncaster RLFC both on and off the pitch next season.

Last year, Wakefield players Kieran Hyde, Russ Spiers, Danny Cowling and Lucas Walshaw hooked-up with Dons on dual-registration deals and the quartet made a big contribution at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Doncaster enjoyed their most successful season in their 61-year history as they achieved promotion from Championship One.

And the two clubs are to continue their partnership next season with player development and commercial enterprise at its heart.

The Wildcats will allow up to four of their players to play on dual-registration and there will be opportunities for Doncaster boss Tony Miller and his coaching team to work with Trinity’s head coach Richard Agar during the campaign.

Miller will work alongside Agar at several of Wakefield’s Super League XVIII games while the Wildcats’ coaching staff will pass on their experience and training methods during training sessions in South Yorkshire.

Dons have yet to confirm which Wakefield players they are hoping to recruit on dual-registration deals but they have expressed their desire to retain Cowling and Walshaw in particular.

As part of their new partnership, Doncaster and Wakefield have confirmed that they will meet in a pre-season friendly match next month.

Wakefield will travel to the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday, January 27 to take on their new partners on the pitch.

More information on ticketing and kick-off time will be confirmed in due course.
