Kyle Wood is set for a move away from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats after talks over a new deal broke down.

The half-back is out of contract at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium at the end of this season and has been linked with a move to his former club Huddersfield Giants.

Wildcats had entered contract discussions with the 24-year-old but those talks have come to an end.

“He’s not signed a deal with us and we’re not talking to him [about one] anymore,” said Wildcats head coach Richard Agar.

Wood could feature for Wakefield against London Broncos on Sunday but his future is expected to be at the John Smith’s Stadium, where he spent two years between 2009-11 but failed to break into the Giants’ first team.
