Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ chances of gaining revenge over Leeds Rhinos on Friday have been boosted with a quartet of key players being passed fit enough to to be named in Richard Agar’s 19-man squad.
Danny Kirmond and Andy Raleigh have both shaken off injuries sustained in the 20-18 loss against the Rhinos at Headingley last Friday and Dean Collis and Taulima Tautai are also in contention for the Rapid Solicitors Stadium clash.
Kirmond and Raleigh both left the Headingley pitch prematurely last week with knee and face injuries respectively while Collis returns from a hamstring injury and Tautai from a thumb injury.
Tautai has featured just twice for Wildcats since arriving from Parramatta Eels in May and Wakefield fans will be eager to see the prop get more time on the pitch, while Collis returns after missing the slender loss at Leeds last time out. Bobbie Goulding and Chris Annakin are the two to drop out.
Rhinos have also received a boost with captain Kevin Sinfield being named in Brian McDermott’s 19-man squad after recovering from a thumb injury alongside prop Kylie Leuluai.
But centre Kallum Watkins is ruled out with an ankle injury suffered in last week’s West Yorkshire derby and 19-year-old James Duckworth is in contention to make his debut.
Wildcats’ 19-man squad: Mathers, Fox, Collis, L Smith, Cockayne, T Smith, Poore, Aiton, Raleigh, Lauitiiti, Kirmond, Washbrook, Amor, Wilkes, Mariano, Trout, Lyne, Wildie, Tautai.
Rhinos’ 19-man squad: Hardaker, Jones-Bishop, Moon, Hall, Burrow, Leuluai, Peacock, Ablett, Sinfield, Delaney, Kirke, Clarkson, Moore, Keinhorst, Singleton, Sutcliffe, Minns, Foster, Duckworth.
