Wet weather forces postponement of all Central Yorkshire Cricket League fixtures

WET weather has forced the postponement of all of this weekend’s Central Yorkshire Cricket League opening-day fixtures.

Clubs around the Merrie City were preparing for their first competitive fixtures of the season but the league today announced the cancellation of all matches owing to the current rainfall.

Altofts CC’s Paul Denison told Express Sport this morning that their match, at home against Batley in the Premier Division, was looking doubtful before the league made its announcement.

And the rain is forecast to continue over the weekend, making any play unlikely.

The fixtures have been rescheduled for Sunday, July 22 and the first fixtures of the season will now take place on Saturday, April 28, weather permitting.

Other local leagues, including the Pontefract League and Huddersfield League, are currently going ahead as planned but the conditions are likely to put the majority of matches in doubt.
