Wilkinson on cue to put boot into rivals

BOOT and Shoe B's junior and senior county duo Joe Wilkinson and Ian Lettice have helped the team to four successive Dewsbury Pool League titles culminating in their most recent third division triumph.

Ossett-based under-14 Wilkinson also recently lifted the Birstall and District Junior League Knockout at Batley Carr WMC.

The Knockout success underlined Wilkinson's consistency over the season. He topped the league averages and was senior A section runner up in the singles.

Lettice and Wilkinson also steered the team to the top of the team averages.

In addition to his Tuesday evening stints with Gawthorpe-based Boot and Shoe, the teenage pool ace represents the Railway Club in the local Ossett and Horbury League.

Wilkinson's rise through the regional pool ranks started when he won the Murphy's Cup when he was 12, representing local pub Hammer and Smithy.

Having made a splash, the 14-year-old went on to represent the West Yorkshire Pool Association up to last year, and was runner-up at the regional finals held in Great Yarmouth that attracted top players from all over the country.
