Wrenthorpe shooter Bowering to captain England

WRENTHORPE clay target shooter Vicky Bowering has been named captain of the England team that will compete in this year’s home internationals, British Open and European and World Championships.

The 32 year-old, recently recovered from a potentially career-ending injury, won the Dougal Memorial event in Bywell last Saturday and finished ninth in the English Open 24 hours later.

The results automatically qualify Bowering for a place in the England team but she is delighted to have been named skipper, saying: “I am really happy and we have a very good team.
