Young Wakefield snooker stars cue up at Crucible

The Sheffield theatre has long been the home of snooker and the World Championships. It is the pinnacle of any players career to cue up in the Crucible. While Anthony’s youngsters were not quite competing in the championship they were certainly experiencing the whole event.

Anthony’s first involvement with The Paul Hunter Foundation was indeed at the World Championships and it seemed poignant for him to join in the media coverage and activities with his very own snooker class pupils.

Five of his pupils took part in challenges along with many youngsters from other nationwide academies and the legendary Steve Davis. They all appeared on television live on the BBC and had the chance to watch their first live snooker match in the main arena.

It was a great day out and one the youngsters will remember forever. This was another step forward for St Michael’s Snooker Club’s growing plans for more young people to play snooker, driven by the determined Mr Hebblethwaite.
