Mr Wilson said: “Obviously with lock down, the team hasn't been training, we did pretty well in the season and we were looking towards a promotion, but sadly that got scrapped which is a shame considering the hard work everyone put in.

“We were thinking of ideas of how we could help alleviate boredom for a lot of people and lift spirits, we know a lot of people who work in care and people in hospitals with COVID 19.

“I picked out a song that everyone would know, which happened to be Bohemian Rhapsody and asked the lads to sing bits of it to the camera.

“I put all the clips together in a video and posted it to our team’s Facebook page, it exploded almost instantly.

“We only expected friends and family to share, but we’ve had nurses from across the country say how much it cheered them up.”

As the video generated a lot of interest nationally, the team decided to start raising money for the NHS and the Prince of Wales Hospice.

Between setting up a just giving page and selling football cards, £2,000 has been raised so far by the club and they hope to reach a figure of £3,000.

Manager Martin Shaw said: “We’ve started selling football cards with 100 random teams on them, so we sell them for £10 per team, the winner gets £500 and the other £500 gets donated.

“We’ve donated to the Mid Yorkshire Trust and the NHS by going through their justgiving page.

“We raised £500 for the Prince of Wales Hospice too.

“The first card sold out within less than a day, there were people messaging our page afterwards wanting teams.

“We noticed that since the video got posted we’ve had loads more people following the page, It’s nice receiving messages from NHS staff.

“Some have been saying that when lock down ends, they want to come to our first game.”
