Castleford born author releases fourth book in comedic urban mystery series

The other three novels in the series – ‘Cat Flap’, ‘the Music of Sound’, and ‘Judgment Clay’ – are quirky humorous mystery stories set in York, that follow modern-day Sherlock Holmes, Bernie Quist.

In ‘Badda Moon Rising’, Quist operates as a consultant detective from Baker Avenue in York, with his assistant, Watson, a streetwise youth from the Grimpen housing estate.

“The Badda sect were a secretive cult in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa, and this title is an obvious play on the old hit by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bad Moon Rising.

“The story revolves around the Yorkshire Museum hosting a new exhibition – a reconstructed temple and a collection of relics highlighting the infamous sect and an obscure period in York’s history.

“The novel took around six months to write, once I got an idea and a place to set it, in this case York, a skeleton for the book was formed.

“I took inspiration from lots of places in York that people will recognise, for example, inside the tower of the minster, and the Kings Arms, the pub by the river which famously floods.”

Ian published this book, along with the rest of the novels in the series, through MX Publishing London, the world's most comprehensive collection of Sherlock Holmes Books, new Sherlock Holmes Fiction, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Biographies and Sherlock Holmes fanfiction.

As an avid Sherlock fan, Ian has been working with MX Publishing since 2017, around the time the first novel in his series was published.
