Cast selected for Theatre Royal Wakefield’s youth musical 'The Band'

More than 30 young performers, many of whom have progressed through Theatre Royal Wakefield’s Performance Academy, or previously appeared in Wakefield Youth Music Theatre productions will take part in the performance which is scheduled to run from August 19 to August 29.

The jukebox musical, which first opened in Manchester in 2017, features the music of the award-winning British band, Take That.

Speaking about the cast announcement, Aoibheann Kelly, head of participation at the Theatre Royal Wakefield, said: “It’s incredibly special to see so many young performers returning to our stage for The Band, alongside others performing here for the very first time.

“This cast reflects the strength and inclusivity of our participation pathways where young people build skills, confidence and ambition while producing work of exceptional quality.

“Through specialist placements, young people can also gain hands-on experience in producing, marketing and other backstage roles, strengthening skills, broadening access and opening doors across the creative industries.”
