All the businesses not allowed to reopen on August 1 as Boris Johnson puts the brakes on

Leisure centres, bowling alleys and casinos have been preparing to reopen tomorrow, but the Prime Minister has announced that they will have to wait - at least another two weeks - before they can start welcoming back customers.

Speaking from Downing Street today, Boris Johnson said with numbers creeping up, their assessment is that they 'squeeze that brake pedal'.

He said: "On Saturday, August 1, you'll remember we had hoped to reopen a number of the higher-risk settings that had remained closed and today I am saying we're postponing those changes for at least a fortnight.

"That means that until August 15 at the earliest, casinos, bowling alleys, skating rinks and the remaining close-contact services must remain closed."

He also said that indoor performances will not resume with pilots of larger gatherings in sports venues and conference centres will not take place.

Mr Johnson added that wedding receptions of up to 30 people will NOT be permitted.

Businesses due to reopen that will now remain closed are:

Bowling alleys, casinos, leisure centres, ice-skating rinks, theatres, music halls and other venues can open for socially distanced audiences and facial treatments at beauty salons.
