Wakefield wedding and events business which suddenly moved issues message to couples
A Wakefield wedding and events business which suddenly moved has issued a statement to couples who had booked events there.
The Mill – a wedding and events venue based at Tileyard North – issued the statement on its Facebook page on January 12.
The statement, signed by ‘The Lawlors’, said the family business is no longer based at Tileyard North, and “sincerely” apologised for “any issues people may have experienced” with the business.
It said all existing bookings have been or will be contacted, that the business is “committed to ensuring events still go ahead where possible”, and that all deposits will be “fully refunded if events cannot proceed.”

The statement said: “We are a family-led business trying to survive in one of the most challenging periods hospitality has ever faced.
“We ask for understanding, kindness, and perspective. We remain committed to doing right by every customer and supplier affected.”
“Thank you to everyone who has supported us. Let’s move into the new year with forward thinking and positively,” it added.
According to the post, the business moved into the wedding and events venue in 2022, and was an extension of the business owners’ other businesses: The Yorkshire Deli and The Yorkshire Catering Company.
Tileyard North have posted that they have been contacted by various people who have booked important life events.
In a statement provided to the Wakefield Express, Tileyard North said "We would ask anyone who has made a booking with them to contact us as we actively want to support couples who have booked and paid the deposit to ensure that the facility is available for their special day.
"Please contact the events team via email at [email protected]."
