The new antimicrobial epoxy coating, which can be used to coat floors, has been independently certified to eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses, including coronavirus.

It has been developed by industrial developer Resincoat, and will now be produced at their factory in Pontefract.

Resincoat managing director Andy Melling said: "In terms of the global war on coronavirus, this coating is a game changer.

"We have been working tirelessly to formulate a coating that could help companies and individuals safeguard environments against this terrible virus.

"After a long five month wait for the test results, we couldn’t be happier with the outcome."

The Resincoat epoxy is a high performance coating designed for highly trafficked areas such as manufacturing facilities, hospitals, care homes and vets.

The company said the coating is "incredibly durable", and will last several years once applied.

Resincoat's Covid-19 Resistant High Performance Epoxy Coating is available to both industrial and domestic customers in the UK.
