IKEA reopening: Nearest stores to Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford and all the rules shoppers will need to follow from April 12

As part of the government's roadmap out of lockdown, non-essential retail will be allowed to reopen from Monday, April 12, meaning many retailers can welcome customers for the first time in more than three months.

IKEA has confirmed that all stores in England will reopen from Monday, including those in Leeds and Sheffield, which are the closest branches to Wakefield and the Five Towns.

But new rules and regulations will be in place to protect customers and staff.

Among the safety measures in place are: limited numbers of customers allowed in store at any one time; care park safe spacing management and security and social distance wardens where needed.

Additionally, hand sanitising stations have been installed, and frequent deep cleaning routines put in place.

Perspex screens have been put in place to enable social distancing, while staff will wear face coverings at all times, and people will be encouraged to use contactless payments wherever possible.

All play areas will remain closed for the time being, so people are asked to supervise their children carefully.

Customers are also asked to shop alone where possible, or in a group of no more than four people from a single household.

In-store kitchen planning services have been paused, and people are instead encouraged to book an online planning appointment.

Contact-free deliveries and click-and-collect orders will continue to be available to shoppers.
