Casa Peri Peri will open in the former Pizza Express unit tomorrow (Friday), offering Portuguese-style chicken and beef dishes.

The restaurant's menu and dining experience has been designed by international chef Bobby Geetha, who is best known for reaching the final 10 contestants in the 2016 series of MasterChef: The Professionals.

Bobby said: “We are delighted at how the restaurant is looking and the key word here is quality – everything from experience to service to food to environment. We want people to visit, have a great, safe time and come back again and again.

Among Casa Peri Peri's offerings will be flame grilled peri peri chicken, slow cooked peri peri beef short rib, a spicy rice protein bowl and sizzling hot chocolate fudge brownie. “The feedback we’ve had already has been brilliant and we can’t wait to start cooking up something special for the people of Wakefield and Yorkshire.”

The restaurant will be run by the Churrasco group, who are also responsible for running Wakefield's Estabulo restaurant and Leeds' Fleur Cafe.

Churrasco group CEO, Rob Campbell, added: “We are a passionate, growing family of exciting, quality places to eat, drink and socialise.

"There’s already so much love for Estabulo in the city, which made it an easy decision to bring Casa Peri Peri to Trinity Walk – a consistently successful and busy shopping centre.

I am certain that even despite these challenging times, we will go from strength to strength and we’re looking forward to really getting going.”

Casa Peri Peri will open for outdoor dining on Friday, April 16, before diners are allowed inside later in May, in line with government guidance.

Cormac Hamilton, Trinity Walk’s Centre Manger, said: “The centre has been looking forward to this arrival and now they’re here and ready to trade, it’s fantastic to see.

"We are steadily and safely reopening so to have new brands on offer is great news for visitors and for us, reaffirming the confidence businesses have in Trinity Walk.”
