All members will be given the chance to transfer their membership to another site, and the company is working with the affected members of staff to find alternative employment.

A spokesperson for Xercise4Less said: “Due to difficult trading conditions that were exacerbated by the Covid-19 crisis and the end of the lease on the property, the difficult decision was taken to close Xercise4Less in Wakefield.

"All members affected by this will have their memberships honoured at our club in Castleford or any other clubs that are convenient for them with a fantastic membership offer. Additionally, they will also have the choice to end their contract.

"We are looking at all options to offer the five staff involved alternative employment in any of our other clubs.”

According to their website, Xercise4Less has operated from the Wakefield site since 2010.
