Kraft Barbers and Kraft Koffee on Wood Steet were among the businesses to take advantage of todays restriction lift.

The companies are run by Antony and Lisa de Csernatony.

Speaking outside the coffee shop, which has been able to accomodate outdoor customers for the first time in months, Antony said: "You could tell coming into town this morning that it was very busy and the traffic was heavy. It was good to see lots of nice, clean shopfronts ready for public. There was a good buzz about the place."

It's now business as usual at the barbers and for the five tattoo artists and a triathlon coach who have returned to the upper floor of the building,

Antony added: "We're looking forward to May 17 when people can sit in with us.

"I'm very optimistic. We've just got to hope the public sticks to the plan and we do what we're supposed to do, keep safe, and hopefully the dates will roll out as we've been promised.

"May 17 is a big one for us to have customers indoors and outdoors. We're about to have a bar refit as well to tap into the nighttime economy.

"I think people will be desperate to be out, have a beer, and socialise again.

"Wakefield has a big masterplan for change at moment. A few things were put on hold when Covid hit but hopefully that will start to move forward."

Oliver Dean Hair and Beauty, also on Wood Street, was set to open its doors today.
