Luxury Leisure, which runs 82 slot machine venues across the UK, is planning to open on Westgate, on the site of a former William Hill betting shop which closed earlier this year.

The company already trades in Castleford under the name Admiral, which is based on Carlton Street in the town.

It has now applied to Wakefield Council for a premises licence to run what it described as an "arcade" at the Westgate unit.
