Discount supermarket chain Aldi had committed to creating 5,000 temporary and 4,000 permanent roles across the UK.

In Wakefield, these roles include Store Assistants, Caretakers and Stock Assistants, though roles are filling fast.

According to their website, Asda are hiring almost 30 new workers across Wakefield and Leeds, including day and night workers, HGV drivers and more.

These include part-time and full-time roles, with pay starting from £9 an hour.

Iceland have also committed to hire thousands of staff, and have now filled all their retail assistant posts.

However, they are still hiring delivery drivers, with temporary and fixed-hour contracts available.

Lidl have also committed to creating new jobs to help keep their shelves stocked through the coronavirus crisis.

Across Wakefield, they are hiring stock assistants on a series of 4 week fixed-term contracts, with wages starting from £9.30 an hour.

Like other supermarkets, Morrisons has committed to creating thousands of new jobs to help the UK through the crisis.

They have created a series of temporary roles, with vacancies available for prospective store assistants, warehouse operatives, florists and more.
