As part of its commitment to help people in the local community, as well as offering in person appointments, Bayfields Opticians & Audiologists is continuing to offer clients advice and consultancy over the phone or online.

Some services, such as the free online hearing test, mean that some people may not need to visit the store in person.

Its BaySafe model goes above and beyond government guidelines to provide a high-quality, personalised care in a safe environment. This includes full PPE equipment for staff, UVC sterilisation of clients’ frames, and clinical standard cleaning daily and in between every appointment.

The business has invested in automatic phoropter heads, UVC sterilisation boxes and frame fitting iPad technology across all our locations meaning the staff are keeping a safe distance from clients wherever possible. Bayfields has also increased its opening hours in some of its practices to provide as much support as possible for the local community.

Royston Bayfield, Founder and CEO, said: “We know it’s a worrying time for so many people, but we want to reassure our clients that our Bayfields family is here for them. Following advice from our professional bodies, we’re continuing to offer routine eye and hearing appointments throughout the coming weeks.

"We’ve taken considerable steps to make sure our practices offer a safe and comfortable environment for both our clients and staff.

“Winter is a vital time to look after your eye and ear health, particularly as the temperate change can increase problems such as dry eye issues.

"On top of that, with more people continuing to work from home, we know that increased use of digital devices can cause problems such as eye strain, headaches and other physical and mental health conditions.

"We’re also able to offer services such as ear wax removal, which many GP practices aren’t doing at the moment and will help to relieve some of the pressures on the NHS.
