Remote learning, being stuck inside and missing friends and family are just some of the tough things that children have had to deal with over the last year and they ALL deserve recognition for being, well, simply amazing!
We asked parents to nominate their super stars and tell us how they have made the most of a bad lockdown situation. Our city really does have truly fantastic children!
13. Olivia
Amanda Burgoyne said: "My daughter, Olivia, is 14. Since the first lockdown in March last year she has helped to teach children and adults with learning difficulties how to bake by going live into their Facebook members page Max Appeal where they bake along with us learning new skills. These children and adults have grown so much in confidence the feed back from our sessions has been amazing! Max Appeal supports families with children with 22q ds11 which my eldest daughter Ellie has. Here is a picture of Olivia getting ready for a baking session "
14. Leo
Steph Wolford said: "My eldest boy Leo is struggling at the minute as he isn't his happy normal self and with it being mental health week he wrote an acrostic poem about how he was feeling and its heart breaking knowing that lots of kids are feeling like he is and they are coping fair better then most adults are in the past year."
