'Truly a school for everyone': Lee Brigg Infant and Nursery School receives glowing Ofsted report

A ‘tangible sense of belonging’ was felt throughout the school.

Lee Brigg Infant and Nursery School has been recognised by Ofsted with a ‘Strong Standard’ across all areas under the new national inspection framework, where schools are now assessed across a range of domains rather than receiving a single overall grade.

The inspection team which visited the school, said attendance is a significant strength of the school, adding ‘pupils are kind, considerate and polite’ and ‘are keen to help each other and consistently reflect the school values of being kind and respectful’.

The report added that teaching across the school is of a ‘consistently high quality’ and ‘individual timetables and carefully tailored interventions help pupils with SEND to make progress through the curriculum and achieve high‑quality outcomes alongside their peers.’

The inspection report also celebrates the school’s inclusive and aspirational culture, saying ‘this is truly a school for everyone’, that there is a ‘tangible sense of belonging’ felt throughout the school and that behaviour is ‘exemplary’.

Luke Welsh, Executive Headteacher, said: “We are incredibly proud of this achievement.

" It reflects the sustained commitment of our staff, the enthusiasm and character of our pupils, and the strength of our wider school community.

"To achieve this outcome at the very start of a new national framework is particularly special.”

Laurabeth Kilkenny, Head of School, added: “This recognition celebrates the culture we have built together—one where every child is known, valued and supported to succeed.

We are proud of what our school represents and excited for the future.”

Dave Dickinson, CEO, said: “The inspection team saw the school at its very best, and this is a great credit to the dedication, professionalism and daily commitment of the whole staff team, led so ably by Executive Headteacher, Luke Welsh, and Head of School, Laurabeth Kilkenny.

"This success is, of course, a reflection not only of the outstanding work of the Lee Brigg team, but also of the support provided from across all areas of the Trust.

"It demonstrates the collective strength of our schools , our central teams, our governance arrangements, and the collaborative culture that underpins our work. Well done to all involved!"

The Trust said it would like to thank all staff, pupils, families, governors and central colleagues whose collective effort has made this success possible.
