'We couldn't be prouder': Knottingley nursery praised by Ofsted for children's welfare and wellbeing
Little Acorns Nursery in Knottingley has been graded 'strong standard' in all areas by Ofsted with inspectors describing the setting as one where children ‘achieve, belong and thrive’.
The inspector visiting the nursery noted that ‘staff know children well and adapt routines and provision to support their physical, emotional and developmental needs’, going on to say ‘this is particularly evident for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, those who are disadvantaged and those known to children's social care.’
They recognised that children ‘make clear and sustained progress’ from their very first day and that the team uses ‘inspirational leadership’ to drive excellence across a ‘highly inclusive’ nursery.
The report added that ‘children demonstrate that they are resilient, confident and self-assured individuals who interact and play cooperatively with their peers’ and ‘children are motivated and increasingly independent’ and that they ‘take pride in their achievements, manage self-care routines and cooperate well with peers’
They also noted that ‘families are welcomed and valued, and children flourish socially, emotionally and developmentally.’
The nursery was also praised for supporting children's development and understanding of their health and wellbeing, saying, ‘Snack and mealtimes promote healthy eating, independence and language development.
‘Children are provided with healthy home cooked meals prepared by the nursery cook. All special diets and allergies are well catered for. Leaders work closely with parents and carers to promote healthy lifestyles, including oral health.’
Nursery Managers/owners Samantha Laing and Lauren Jarratt said they are absolutely thrilled with the report.
