Just days after a new community pharmacy site launched at Morrisons on Dewsbury Road, NHS England confirmed plans for 30 new vaccination centres to open this morning, including a site at Spectrum Community Healthcare on Navigation Walk, Wakefield.
It is part of a nationwide effort to ensure that the most vulnerable members of society will be protected against the virus by the middle of February.

Across the UK, more than four million people have received the first dose of the jab.
In a statement on its website, Spectrum said: "The local NHS is working to expand the rollout as quickly as supplies become available.

"We know lots of people will be eager to get protected but you will be invited for a vaccine when it’s your turn so please do not contact your practice, the NHS, or indeed Spectrum, to request an appointment.
"The NHS is working hard to make sure those at greatest risk are offered the vaccine first and people will not be able to make an appointment until they have received their invitation."
Vaccines will continue to be offered at Castleford Civic Centre, King's Medical Practice, Sandal RUFC, Church View Health Centre in South Kirkby and Eastmoor's St Swithun's Community Centre.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: “I am grateful to all the NHS staff, volunteers and our armed forces for their continued tireless work to offer lifesaving vaccines to the most vulnerable people in our society.
“I urge every eligible person to book your jab when you get invited. By opening up more vaccination sites we are making it easier for people to get their vaccine.
“Vaccines are the most effective way to protect yourself but a jab doesn’t mean you can drop your guard. It takes time to develop protection and we do not yet know if it stops transmission.
"For now everyone must continue to play their vital role in this fight by staying at home to save lives.”
