Doctors surgeries given the go-ahead to merge under NHS plans

Two local doctor’s surgeries will merge later this year under NHS plans.

Prospect Surgery and Church Street Surgery, which are currently run separately on the same site at Ossett Health Village, will share general practice from October.

In a statement, the surgeries said: “We believe by combining our resources we can offer greater patient choice and a wider selection of staff.”

Prospect employed five doctors in 2017, but that number has now reduced to one.

The merger, which was signed off by local NHS bosses on Tuesday of last week, will see the practices collectively named Ossett Surgery.

Church Street GP partner Aly Damji said: “We would like to thank patients for taking the time to provide feedback about the proposal and we have taken all their comments on board as we move forward to establish one, single practice.”
