New Covid testing sites opening to tackle high rates of infection in Wakefield
Two more mobile testing units are opening this week in Wakefield to help tackle higher infection rates in the district.
The units will offer walk through PCR testing without appointment to any local resident who has symptoms of possible Covid-19, or is concerned that they may have been in contact with someone with Covid.
However, if you are notified you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive, you are still required to isolate for the full 10 days.
The units will move around areas of the district to offer better access to tests for local communities.
Testing is available between 9am and 3pm at:
Normanton and Altofts Comrades’ Athletics Club, 11 Ashgap Lane, Normanton WF6 2DT today, Tuesday April 6th, Friday 9th, Tuesday 13th and Friday 16th April
Ossett Market on Wednesday 7th, Thursday 8th, Saturday 10th, Sunday 11th, Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April.
Anna Hartley, Wakefield Council’s Director of Public Health, said: “Easy access to testing is really important to reduce our infection rates in the Wakefield district. Please do take this opportunity to get tested, particularly if you have symptoms.”
