9. October 1962
Senior schoolboys enjoying a cigarette in the smoking room at Highfields Grammar School, near Wakefield, Yorkshire where fifth and sixth formers are allowed official smoking sessions. The headmaster, Rev Edward Smithies, believes that officially sanctioning the habit will make it lose its attraction.
10. May 1936
A Castleford firm are now engaged on orders received for over a quarter of a million coronation mugs, beakers, jugs and ashtrays. - Girls taking trays of the finished mugs to the dispatch department of a Castleford Pottery firm, Castleford, Yorks.
