Blue Light goalkeeper Mark Wilson's hands signal a stop to Yorkshire Evening Post driver David Bartholomew in a Grove Park attack during a Wakefield Tetley League First Division game at Stanley Royd. Grove Park, sponsored by the YEP, eventually finished 1-0 winners.

Coronation street star Helen Worth, who plays Gail Tilsley, performed the honours when Ossett Albion's new £25,000 dressing rooms were opened at their Queens Terrace. Bradford born Helen, sister of Albion chairman Neville Wigglesworth, is seen with Albion players and, left, Coun Chris Heinitz, chairman of Wakefield Council's Leisure Services, who provided a grant towards the cost of the new dressing rooms. Allan Clarke brought his Barnsley side along for a match, sponsored by Philip's Hair Fashions, to mark the occasion and a 300 crowd saw them beat Northern Counties East League club Albion 2-1. .
