The mural appeared this morning on the side of the Boot and Shoe Pub in Ackworth and it shows Oliver as a Superhero next to the phrase ‘Not all heroes wear capes.’

Rachel said: “This piece seemed like a natural transition again because it both paid homage to the NHS and the carers, but also to the patients who are fighting other battles.

“I’ve been approached by a few people about this idea before, but now it seemed like the perfect time, Oliver has benefited greatly from the NHS and they have taken amazing care of people like him.

As soon as we got close to the mural, Alfie knew it was his big brother who he misses so much, he got up and started jumping around."As soon as we got close to the mural, Alfie knew it was his big brother who he misses so much, he got up and started jumping around."

“But there are always limitations, and now the responsibility falls to his parents who are having to bridge the gap with donations to raise money for his treatment.”

In January next year, Oliver will need a kind of treatment - called Bivalent vaccine - which is only available in America and costs £230,000.

His family, members of the community and even celebrities, like Marti Pellow and Tony Hadley, have banded together to help raise the vital funds needed to cover the treatment costs.

So far £150,000 has been raised for his treatment.

Rachel said: “I painted this piece to create a group effort, I looked at my business Facebook page which has 9,000 followers, if each person donated a pound that would be £9,000 raised towards helping this little boy.

“People don’t need to break the bank - at the end of the day the actual mural has no monetary value but hopefully the exposure will help OIiver’s cause - if more people know, the more people can donate.

“We’re all behind him and everyone wants to see him get what he deserves, my own daughter is nearly Oliver’s age and if I were in that position that his family are in, I’d hope people would do the same for me."

Oliver, who is currently in Leeds General Infirmary with his dad James, has been receiving chemotherapy and other treatment.

He cannot see his mother, Laura, nor little brother, Alfie during this time due to low immunity so he must remain in hospital.

Laura, Oliver’s mum, said: “Ben who’s one of the administrators on Oliver’s Facebook page contacted Rachel and asked her if she would consider doing a mural for Oliver and she went straight for it and said yes.

“Me and Alfie went down to see the mural this morning, as it’s not a far walk from where we live.

“As soon as we got close to the mural, Alfie knew it was his big brother who he misses so much, he got up and started jumping around.

“The mural appeared this morning, Rachel didn’t give any clues as to when she’d be painting it but she got on with it straight away.

“She's captured such a good resemblance so she must have studied photos, she’s done so well in such a short amount of time, I’m blown away.”
