From memorable folk in the city centre to buildings, pubs and clubs (from the good old days) that are no longer there, everyone who has grown up in Wakefield holds some special memories. Here are just a few shared by you!
5. Mulberry Busg
The 19th century mulberry bush at HMP Wakefield is thought to have inspired the nursery rhyme 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush'. Women prisoners used to dance around the tree with their children, and invented the rhyme to keep the children amused.
6. Gym
Shapers gym above Unity Hall, described as the 'best gym ever' was remembered by many of you.
7. Where shall we meet?
The place to meet someone? Under the bus station clock of course!
8. Westgate Run
The Redoubt on Horbury Road was famous for being the starting point for the Westgate Run.
