Taking place this Friday, October 9, the quiz will coincide with the end of Hospice Care Week, an annual week of activity celebrating the role that hospices play within the healthcare sector and changing people’s perceptions about them.

Anyone can enter the quiz because it’s virtual and contestants will face six rounds containing five questions each, with two of the rounds focusing on Chris and Karen’s individual specialist subject area - MasterChef and the Great British Bake Off respectively.

"We each have a different area of expertise and it is sure to be a lot of fun.

“Hospice’s and other charities have suffered a lot this year and I am always looking for new ways in which I can support, especially locally, in my home town of Wakefield. It’s been such a strange time over the last seven months that I’m looking forward to having a bit of fun in the name of a truly worthwhile cause.”

The quiz will start at 4pm and last around an hour.

Once contestants register their email address, via the Facebook event page or Wakefield Hospice’s website, they will receive the Zoom link and password in order to join.

Registration costs £5 per person or £10 for a team of a maximum of four people.

Karen, of Karen Wright Bakes, said: “I might be a baker by name, but I can also turn my hand to some home cooking favourites. I love a bit of comfort food, especially at this time of year.

"I do hope everyone has been listening carefully to GBBO over the years so they get my questions right. It’s all in the name of an excellent cause.

“It’s not cheap running a hospice as tranquil as Wakefield Hospice and I do hope people will join the quiz and help to keep the hospice’s funds topped up. In a week of celebrating hospices and the incredible work they do, let’s get together, have a bit of fun and raise some funds for our local hospice.”

The hospice hopes that during these difficult times, people will come together to have a bit of fun and enjoy some escapism for an hour on a Friday.

Director of income generation at Wakefield hospice, Helen Knowles, said: “We’re more reliant than ever on our community coming together to support us with their fundraising initiatives and that is why Hospice Care Week is so important to us, particularly this year.

"The week enables us to shout about the work we do and helps us to remain front of mind so that people continue to fundraise for us.

"Every penny counts as we make our way through these unchartered Coronavirus waters and we are so pleased to have Chris and Karen on-board to provide a bit of light-hearted entertainment to end this national week on a culinary high.”
